Cognition is how the brain processes data and creates meaning from it.

Because the attention which the human mind has is limited, speech is predominantly delivered in turns: delivering speech, talking (encoding) and listening (decoding).

An operation is a cyclical procedure.

The cognitive operation related to speech can conceptually be divided into four sequential phases:

• TALK / LISTEN
• REACT
• EXCHANGE
• INFLUENCE

There are limitations to how a person implements those stages. Some of them are respecitvely:

• TALK/LISTEN - fluency in the language, common knowledge, self-regulation
• REACT - worldview, biases, emotional triggers
• EXCHANGE - affiliation to a social structure which has specific rules
• INFLUENCE - the chosen course of action

The first step to maturing from a dependant baby into a social adult is becoming aware of, conscious of and modifying those limitations in the Self.
